Four home runs led to the defeat of the Sox in game 3 of the regular season, as Clay Buchholz gave up four and Boston's best hitter, Adrian Gonzalez, went 0-4. On the bright side, Carl Crawford broke out of his slump with two hits and an RBI. Jarrod Saltalamacchia went hitless again (surprise, surprise) and Jon Papelbon gave up a run when he came out to get some work. He needed it, considering the Sox have been blown out in the three games and smashed to pieces. On a brighter note, the Yankees are not in first in the AL East despite their 3-1 record. That title is a complete surprise to all baseball fans: the Baltimore Orioles, out to 4-0 for the first time since 1997 and possibly in search of a world title. This team is showing the domination the Baltimores showed in the '70s with Jim Palmer and Earl Weaver as a manager. The O's beat the Tigers last night 5-1 on Brian Roberts's second three-run shot in a row. Jake Arrieta pitched six strong innings for the Orioles to boost their record.
Trivia
Arrieta has only pitched in 19 games in his career, and this win was his 7th.
