Jon Lester earned a hard-luck loss as the Sox fell 3-2 against the Tampa Bay Rays. David Price earned his first win of the season, going 7.2 innings and giving up two runs. Darnell McDonald gave the Sox the lead early in the third inning with a rocket over the Green Monster, but Lester gave up 4 singles in the 5th to lose 3-2. Jed Lowrie came back in the 6th with an RBI double against Price, but he simply could not come back. The Rays bullpen shut down the Sox and they could not hit after the double and the save was nailed down by old Yankee pitcher Kyle Farnsworth. Lester threw 7 full innings and struck out 8 men, but he was simply outdueled by nemesis Price. The Sox and Rays' third game was postponed due to rain today, but the Sox look to come back. I think that it is a good sign that Lester threw well, and it is just tough luck that he gives up those hits strung together right in a row.

The Sox will take on the Toronto Blue Jays in Fenway on Friday, with Clay Buchholz taking the mound. I hope that this string of good pitching (excepting Dice-K) can continue with Clay.
Trivia
Lowrie's double was his second of the game, and he has been hitting .438 this season.
Dustin Pedroia's average fell once more, but he is still batting .366.
