Sox romp in 6-homer outburst

The Boston Red Sox got 6 homers to demolish the Baltimore Orioles 10-4 and move into first place. Andrew Miller got the start, and he went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and walking four. The Birds scored 2 in the first thanks to an RBI single and a double play, but Dustin Pedroia drilled a three-run shot off Jake Arrieta to make the game 3-2 Boston. However, Miller let the O's score a third run on a sac fly, but J.D. Drew grounded out to drive into a run. Then the outburst really started. Bottom 5, Adrian Gonzalez took Arrieta deep for his 17th of the year, tying him with David Ortiz for the Red Sox lead. Next inning, it was Jacoby Ellsbury drilling a homer over the Pesky Pole for a 7-3 lead. And then in the 6th came the biggest outburst since August last year. First David Ortiz took a 3-2 pitch into center field for his 18th. Next, Josh Reddick drilled a 3-2 pitch into the bullpen. Finally, Jarrod Saltalamacchia nailed a 0-2 delivery into the Green Monster seats for back-to-back-to-back home runs. I think that this power outburst was great, with 9 runs being scored on homers, but I wish that Miller could have gone a little deeper. Hopefully the power will stay tonight, although admittedly it doesn't really have to because 2.12 ERA Josh Beckett is pitching.

Trivia
Ortiz is competing in the Home Run Derby this year.
Beckett might get the start in the All-Star Game for the AL.
