McDonald and Tek seal win

Encarnacion scores but is called out. Is this really an acceptable way to end an Major League Baseball game? After the Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to Jason Varitek's RBI double, which was followed by a J.D. Drew RBI single, Dustin Pedroia made it 3 thanks to a homer. Unfortunately for Boston, Jon Lester left after 4 no-hit innings due to a back strain. Matt Albers came on and gave up a hit in the 6th, but overall looked pretty good for the Sox. He would end up with the win. Now, into the ninth inning. Jonathan Papelbon pitching against Jose Bautista with one man on: the result is not good, a home run off Pap to make it 3-2 Boston. After another single and a walk, John McDonald came up swinging his bat. He blooped a single into left field, and Edwin Encarnacion came around from second base. Darnell McDonald of the Red Sox came up throwing the ball and made a perfect throw to Jason Varitek, who was blocking the plate excellently, to seal the win for the Red Sox. I think it is great that McDonald made the great throw, and it really surprised me that Varitek could still block the plate even though he is getting a little slow. I was impressed with the rest of the pitching staff, and I thought that the Red Sox offense was pretty good, if not a bit lacking.

Trivia
Papelbon's 4 hits allowed in the ninth were more than the rest of the Red Sox staff.
