Jed Lowrie had two hits and three RBI and Marco Scutaro added three hits as John Lackey became the third Red Sock to earn his tenth win. Lackey earned the win against his old team, the LA Angels. The Sox won 4-2 with Jonathan Papelbon earning his 24th save. With the Yankee loss to Cleveland, the Red Sox came to just 7 games behind the Yankees, but still five behind the Rays in the wild card.
Today, I have an update for you and will write a full article when the game finishes. Josh Beckett went seven strong innings and Marco Scutaro crushed a grand slam in the eighth to give the Sox a 7-3 lead.
Trivia
Lowrie has been battling mononucleosis all season.
Victor Martinez talked his way out of taking a day off today and is in the starting lineup.
