Ellsbury crushes Yanks

The Sox actually beat the White Sox in two out of three games for the series win, then split a 4-gamer with Cleveland. Jacoby Ellsbury has walk-offs on consecutive nights. At the trade deadline, they acquired Erik Bedard from the Cleveland Indians. They then faced the Yankees, and lost to fall out of first place. And now I come to the topic of my article today: Saturday's game. The Sox came out early with two runs in the third inning, including a sacrifice fly by Ellsbury, but the Yanks battled back to tie the game in the fourht with two runs. However, the Sox got two in the bottom of the fourth and then Ells came up again with two on. He crushed a rocket into the first row of seats for a three-run homer and a 7-2 lead. He added two more RBI on a single while John Lackey stayed solid for a 10-4 win. It was Lackey's 10th win of the season, and Ells's 6 RBI were a career-high for the center-fielder. I think that it is great that Ells is producing so much! He has 19 homers and 31 steals so far, just 1 homer away from becoming the first Red Sox player of the 21st century to join the 20/20 club. Also, Jacoby's performance overshadowed Carl Crawford's four-hit performance in which he scored 3 runs. However, I am very happy that Lackey is pitching so well and Ellsbury is on a major tear.

Trivia
The most recent Red Sock to join the 20/20 club was John Valentin in 1997.
